a two barrel blend

Simply one hogshead barrel of old vine Shiraz blended with one of Mataro (Barossan for Mourvedre).

Winemaker Rolf Binder hand selected these barrels for their ability to create a wine greater than the sum of their parts.

The story

As part of our recovery project, we wanted to help out those affected by the pandemic.

We commissioned local artist Gill Hicks to create a unique piece art for the label.

She chose to use the wine as a paint to create an amazing canvas, which we reproduced on the label.

newspaper review:

A medium-bodied old vine blend made by Barossa winemaker Rolf Binder. It greets you with the kind of aromas that hit when you walk into a nonna’s kitchen.

Charcuterie and black peppercorns followed by mulberry and compote flavours and a whisper of tannin. It begs for charred meats and a long, lazy afternoon.

These ‘Recovery Project’ wines were created to help our friends and colleagues who are doing it tough during COVID.

For example the label artwork was painted by Gill Hicks, an artist who used the actual wine as the ink.
