'Proclamation' Shiraz Grenache Mourvedre

Region:   Barossa

Vintage:  2017

The Shiraz comes from both the Barossa Valley floor as well as the Eden Valley, with the latter adding lifted fruit and structure. The grenache fills out the front and mid palate with spice and red berries while the small amount of Mourvedre adds colour and weight.

Plenty of blackberries, some pepper spice and lifted cherry characters backed up by soft oak and very smooth tannins.

Hand-picked, small batch open-fermented, matured in barrel for 12 months. Excellent colour; stacked with blackberry fruit ex the shiraz, the grenache adding a posy of red fruits, mourvedre bringing in soft tannins of its own. It's the freshness, the juicy vibrancy that brings home the bacon. James Halliday MW
