Black Label Tempranillo
Region: South Australia (Riverland, Barossa, Coonawarra)
We wanted to capture the vibrancy and flair of Spanish Tempranillo, a wine style that’s super easy to drink and matches beautifully with food.
This final blend was a mix of cool and warm regions which provided a wider and more interesting flavour profile, with red and black cherry characters sitting front and centre. There’s also raspberries and plums, great structure and a lengthy fruit dominant finish.
It matches well with meat dishes as well as cheeses. In addition, as we’ve recently discovered, this flavour profile works especially well with Asian cuisine.
Here we are comparing our final blend to other Tempranillos:
Beautifully ripe and elegantly fragrant, the wine shows Black Doris plum, dark cherry, roasted nut, thyme and violet aromas on the nose. It's supple and succulent on the palate delivering delightful fruit intensity together with fleshy texture and silky tannins, making it delectable and instantly appealing. Sam Kim MW.
