'1836' Malbec

Region:   Mclaren Vale

Vintage:  2017

A small corner of a Mclaren Vale vineyard is planted to Malbec which we take for this small batch wine. Open fermented in small bins, hand plunged before being pressed and matured in oak.

This classic wine shows concentrated blackberry and a rich, velvety mouthfeel making it very suited to Cabernet Sauvignon lovers. The oak treatment has left its mark, both with soft char characters and the generosity of flavour, helping this wine shine as a food match to rich meat dishes.

Bold and brooding, the wine shows ripe blackberry, smoked game, cocoa and roasted nut characters on the nose with a lovely seasoning of pepper spice. The palate delivers excellent concentration and rounded mouthfeel, beautifully supported by plush texture and silky tannins, finishing impressively long and velvety.
